Yesterday at the Zoo

(for ages 3+ but no older than under 10!)

Yesterday at the Zoo

Yesterday I went to the zoo,

(so did my mum and my little sister too).

There were so many animals to view,

so many wonderful things to do.

When we walked through the gates the first thing I saw

A bright orange Tiger who let out quite a roar!

We also saw giraffes with their heads in the trees,

they looked rather funny with their wobbly knees.

The four big elephants played together with a ball,

They are, I think, my favourite animal of all.

They have a new playground, you may recall,

the zoo keeper feeding them looked so terribly small!

We went to see the butterflies —

that’s where my sister wanted to go,

but what I wanted to see,

Was the polar bear show!

Then suddenly we heard a very loud thud,

I looked to see a hippo jumping in the mud!

They look so funny with such large heads,

I’d rather see the monkeys and chimpanzees instead.

It was time to go home, the zoo was closing too,

and we were getting tired—but there was much more to do.

There were many more animals I didn’t get to see,

so maybe one day you’ll go there with me!
